Karon Ivey, LMHC, Chief Administrative Officer
Karon Ivey is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor originally from Delaware, who moved to Florida as a child. She earned a Presidential Scholarship to Jacksonville University, graduating with a degree in Marketing/Management in 1991. Her fascination with psychology led her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Florida, completed in 1996.
Karon began her career at Child Guidance Center in 1997, working with a school-based treatment team to support severely emotionally disturbed elementary school children. She then transitioned to providing individual and family therapy in homes and schools, eventually joining the CGC Outpatient Program.
Her diverse experiences fueled her passion for the Full Service Schools Program, which Child Guidance Center helped develop in collaboration with partners in 1990. Karon believes in meeting clients and families where they are, and this program embodies that philosophy. Promoted to Program Director of the Full Service Schools Program in 2008, she also led the Community Family Services Team.
In 2021, Karon was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer, leveraging her strong technology background. She played a key role in implementing and maintaining several EHRs and other CGC business applications. In this role, she oversees data reporting, CGC promotion, and the Medical Team. In 2024, she was awarded the Florida Behavioral Health Association Administrator of the Year. She is dedicated to improving the quality of services and has implemented measurement based care at CGC.
As a qualified licensure supervisor, Karon provides clinical supervision and mentoring to new mental health therapists, drawing inspiration from the valuable guidance she received from her own mentors. She is extensively trained in trauma-informed care and interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, play therapy, and family system interventions.
