Talkable Communities
Empowering Change Through Conversation
Talkable Communities is an innovative collaboration between five nonprofits, providing free mental health trainings across Northeast Florida.
The idea of Talkable Communities is rooted in the concept of Walkable Communities, which emphasizes the importance of social interaction, communication, and healthy living among those who live there.
Talkable Communities, on the other hand, aims to encourage healthy conversations and activities that prioritize mental well-being for families and children, ultimately leading to happier and healthier lives.
The Trainings
Adult Mental Health First Aid
This course teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.
It’s Time to Talk about it!
This training for parents and other adults teaches how to have conversations about suicide with youth, in order to provide support and help create a safety net for them.
Question. Persuade. Refer.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help.
Youth Mental Health First Aid
This course is designed to teach adults how to identify, understand, and respond to Mental health and substance use challenges faced by young people between the ages of 6 and 18.
Take the first step towards creating a Talkable Community.
